Free Electrons "summer of code"
During his studies at the INSA Rennes engineering school, Albin joined Free Electrons for three and half months in the summer of 2009.
We were impressed by how quickly he completed all the tasks we gave him and embraced the corresponding topics. Here are his main achievements:
- Implemented cpuidle and cpufreq support for Atmel ARM CPUs, allowing Linux users to take advantage of the power management capabilities of these processors, at last.
- Added support for using LZO-compressed kernel images on x86 and ARM, allowing for substantial boot time reduction on these platforms.
- Updated and merged U-boot support code for several CALAO Systems boards. He also updated MMC support and got various improvements merged into U-Boot.
We were impressed about how autonomous Albin was. We still had close communication with him, and he even helped us on the other projects we were working on. This was really a pleasure to work with him and he was a perfect team member. We hope we will work with him again!
Free Software contributions
Since 2006, Albin is an active contributor to the Free Software community. In particular, he is a member of the Ubuntu Development Team, mainly focusing on Quality Assurance. He also created and maintains packages for the Debian distribution.
