At Free Electrons, we already develop embedded systems based on Linux and Free Software. In particular, we participate to Handhelds.org projects to port Linux on handheld devices.

So, we are in a good position to do developments for your organization too, such as:

• Application development. We can develop custom applications, for example for graphical environments like GPE or Opie. Of course, we can also add the features you need to a given application.
• Software packages. We can make .ipk, .deb, .rpm or just plain binary packages for the applications that you need, when they are not available on the Internet yet. This will save you time undertanding source compiling and configuring package creation tools.
• Entire root filesystems. Tell us your processor architecture, the tools that you need and we will create a complete package-based root filesystem for your system, with just want you need.

Proprietary software development

We don't recommend to develop proprietary software, all the more as we believe this may not be your best interest. However, the decision is yours and if you already count on Free Electrons as a partner, we may help you to fulfill your needs.

Free software / Open Source development

We offer a 50% discount on Free Software development, not only because we support Free Software, but also because development is much cheaper indeed. By working in the Free Software community, we get free advice from experts, as well as free testing and contributions.

In addition, we can reuse a significant number of existing components, in particular some that we created for our earlier developments.
